Maryland Wine

March 19, 2012

My friend and colleague from DC rented a Prius from Zip Car on Saturday, and we headed west towards Linganore Winery for a day in the country. Desiree shared with me that the winery was powered by wind energy through Clean Currents before we left, but the entire adventure ended up being about sustainable sources of energy, and alternative modes of transportation. On the drive, I was happy to see large wind generators in the fields, and then I was even happier to be greeted by a giant solar panel charging station upon pulling into the parking lot of the winery. A car with license plates reading “Gas Sux” was plugged in at the station too. After the tasting, a gentleman landed his light aircraft on the grassy hillside at the winery, bought a bottle of wine, and then proceeded to take off again. All of these positive signs of change left my heart tingling with hope for the future, and some of the wine wasn’t too bad either.
